Haulotte Slight Recovery
Haulotte "slight recovery" in the powered access market in the first half of 2010 helped it increase sales by 15% to €114.4 million. It warned, however, that the world market is not expected to significantly recover over the entire year 2010. The company made a net loss of €16.0 million, halving the loss made in the same period in 2009.

Terex Corporation acquires Topower
Terex Corporation will acquire 65% of privately held Chinese crane manufacturer Topower. Shandong Topower Heavy Machinery Manufacture Co Ltd (Shandong Luneng Everbright Heavy Machinery Co Ltd) designs and manufactures crawler, gantry, derrick and bridge cranes. It was established in 2007.

Caterpillar New Excavator Plant
Caterpillar will build a new 600000 ft2 (55750 m2) excavator factory in the city of Victoria, Texas, US. Ground breaking is scheduled for September, with production due to start in mid-2012. The new factory is set to triple the company`s US capacity to manufacture excavators. Caterpillar chose Victoria because of its proximity to suppliers, ports and transportation, as well as the positive business climate in Texas.

Caterpillar New Plant in Winston-Salem
Caterpillar Inc. will build a new plant in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where it will machine components and assemble, test, and paint axle assemblies for large mining machinery. Construction will begin later this year for an 850,000-ft2 operation that will begin operations in early 2012.

Komatsu Profits Rise
Komatsu first quarter sales to 30 June of JPY 447 billion (US$ 5 billion), up +39.5% on the JPY 320 billion (US$ 3.6 billion) recorded for the equivalent quarter last year. Pre-tax profits for the quarter jumped +474% to JPY 50 billion (US$ 569.6 million), up from JPY 8.7 billion (US$ 99 million) 12 months ago.
