Liebherr (Germany) has shown a U.S.-version of its LTF 1045-4.1 truck crane. The 55-ton, four-axle machine with a 115-foot telescopic boom is mounted on a Kenworth chassis. Its axle loads are lower than comparable all-terrain cranes and it can be driven on public roads.
The first unit has been assembled at the Liebherr Cranes Inc. facility in Houston, Texas. It has the polished aluminum rims, chrome-plated radiator grill, and a long wheel base. The new model maintains its compact dimensions. The LTF 1045-4.1 is only 20’4” wide. A modular 31-foot folding fly-jib can be luffed up to 60°. The new LTF cranes are optionally available with remote radio control.
