New High Speed Train from Siemens
Siemens has unveiled their latest high speed train the Velaro D at their Krefeld works. The Germany based company won the €500m ($659m) contract to assemble 15 of the fourth-generation trains in 2008. Carrying up to 460 passengers, the eight-car Velaro-D trains can transport 30 more passengers than the class-406 ICE3 trains.

Siemens First Class 380
Siemens has shown the press the first of Class 380s that are being constructed for ScotRail, at their Krefeld works. The class 380s will be delivered to the UK between September 2010 and March 2011. The Class 380 will be fully compliant with crashworthiness standard EN 15227 - designed to improve protection for staff and passengers.

New Class 7100 Locomotives from Siemens Mobility
The first three of 23 Class 7100 25 kV electric locomotives being built for Pacific National by Siemens Mobility`s München-Allach plant have entered service in Queensland. The 1 067 mm gauge locomotives were ordered in 2007, and deliveries will run to mid-2010.

Automated Metro in Helsinki
Helsinki City Transport (HKL) has chosen Siemens to renovate its metro network. HKL has contracted the Mobility Division at Siemens to supply a driverless metro system worth around 100 million euros.

The first Korean KTX-II train
Celebration has been held at the Hyundai Rotem plant in Changwon to launch the country’s first locally-developed 300 km/h trainset. KTX-II is the commercial evolution of the HSR-350 prototype, which was developed under a project led by the Ministry of Knowledge & Economy, and the Ministry of Education, Science & Technology. The first trainset is expected to undergo six months of test running before entering revenue service.
