New signature offerings from Caterpillar are set to revolutionise the compact equipment market – increasing power and performance and setting new operator standards.
The epitome of skid steer loaders, the new Caterpillar C-Series comes with all the luxuries of a large machine in one small package. The four new C-Series skid steer loaders – 246C, 256C, 262C and 272C – set the bar in machine control with key features such as electro-hydraulic joystick control of the hydrostatic drive system and electronic torque management for smooth operation and high productivity.
Meanwhile, other additional options such as High Flow XPS hydraulics expand versatility and enable customers to equip C-Series machines specifically for the types of work they do. The High Flow XPS hydraulics option enables customers to equip any size C-Series machine for use with work tools requiring high flow and pressure, such as landscape rakes and cold planers.
The Cat 3044C DIT engine gives high performance power in all four models. The 3.3-litre engine is turbocharged. At 67kW the 272C is the most powerful skid steer Caterpillar has ever offered, while both the 262C and 256C deliver 61kW, and the 246C generates 54kW.
At a rated operating capacity of 1474kg, the 272C is also the largest capacity skid steer loader Caterpillar has produced and is joined by the smaller 262C as the vertical lift machines on offer in the C-Series. The 246C and 256C are radial lift machines with rated operating capacities of 975kg and 1066kg, respectively.
Not forgetting the operator, Caterpillar has added an optional pressurised cab to make the C-Series an industry-first sealed and pressurised unit to provide a cleaner and quieter working environment.
