Wirtgen (Germany) has introduced its new KMA 220 mobile cold mixing plant. It can be used in a wide range of applications, offering a mixing capacity of up to 220 tonnes/hour for the production of high quality cold mixes. The KMA’s 220 tonne capacity is 10% greater than its predecessor, the KMA 200. Power comes from a six cylinder diesel developing 131 kW (176 hp) in a soundproof housing that can be switched to a economical ECO mode during non-productive periods.
When operating at 200 tonnes/hour a full 20 tonne load of cold recycled asphalt mix can be produced every six minutes. The KMA 220 can be used either in continuous or batch mode, with mixes either going straight to trucks or stockpiled for later use. With the addition of binding agents, superior quality mixes can be produced from a wide range of either virgin aggregates or recycled materials. Recycling materials suitable for processing include milled material as well as all materials from upper road pavements.
